Let's change all our sorrow and rage to power

Never expect everything to go as planned. So many people believe this small fallacy, that if they raised their expectations then it would lower their chances of success. Even Shaun did, at a time. However, after dealing in the dangerous world of business for this long of a year now, he knew the truth about expecting. Only the least confident of themselves wouldn't want to expect anything, for they knew they would fail from the beginning. It was always those that were truly confident that meet their expectatiosn.

That is why, even while walking, Shaun carried himself with the utmost confidence. His face was the face of success, matching the black tuxedo that managed to glisten in the light, the gold jewelry that he adorned, and the air around him. Everything about Shaun beamed confidence, and that was all that he needed.

"Mary," Shaun spoke into his watch that doubled as a phone. Only one of the latest evolutionary technologies from Pain Corporation. "Do I have anything scheduled for today?"

A sultry female voice sounded from the phone. "No, Mr. Pain. You're all free."

A smirk slowly slid across his face. "Good," he said. "And if anyone tries to call for me?"

"Bring them straight to voicemail, sir," the voice answered confidently.

"I'm counting on you, Mary."

One click of the watch was all that was needed, and the phone-watch turned off. There were still so many faults with the divice, like the fact that it could not pick up signals in most areas. However, it sure did look fashionable.

"Now then," Shaun said as he straightened his tie. "Time to go impress some old-rich farts."

The heir to the pain dynasty had been invited by some of Japan's wealthy organizers to attend a small party. Of course, Shaun expected nothing but the wealthiest of the wealthy to be here, with maybe a few impoverished maids prancing around. He had been to these parties plenty of times, so he knew that there wasn't going to be much to expect. And like he figured, he was right.

The building for the "ball" was hosted in some wealthy building in the Center Gai. The minute he walked in, he captured the views of a few business men and women, some glamorous housewives riding on the wealth of their spouse, as well as some spoiled brats drinking up all of the wine at the bar. There was nothing new here. If Shaun had seen it a thousand times before, it garnered little interest.

Mostly, he came here for only one thing, to meet the big bosses of Tokyo. He had some deals that needed to be offered to him, and some deals that he needed to offer. Hopefully, the talks would be smooth and less troublesome. However, when dealing with these rich vultures, nothing would ever be easy.

For now, he decided to play things coolly and scope out the area. Sadly, he couldn't fall back into the crowd since everyone in here knew who he was, but that still didn't stop him from having a look around.

Kazai Yamashita

Don't you ever say I just walked away
Oh yes, young Kazai was here for only one reason. Daughter of the famed Zony President and heiress to it's wealth, it was a requirement for her to be. Quite frankly, she wasn't allowed to not come for the shame that it could bring to Japan itself. She was given a certain ultimatum which made the decision to be here no question at all. She got dolled up just as they wanted her to, a beautiful blue ball gown paired with opera gloves and slippers. All of it as expensive as it was beautiful. All of it begrudgingly worn by the 16 year old who didn't even want to be here.

"Gimme that," she swiped another glass of sake from an unsuspecting patron who dared sit too close to her and began gulping down her "third too manyth" glass of wine. And it felt so good going down too.

Everyone could tell she had too much. Her face was flushed red and ataxia had long ago set in. She lazily slugged another gulp from yet another drink. Spoiled brat, sure. Slightest care? No. The only hope was that if she behaved ridiculously enough no one would ever try to force her to come to another one of these things again.

Of course, the bartender could have said something. Security could force her out. But who wanted to be the person who dragged the richest girl in Japan out of the ball? There wasn't a lot of people. And rightfully so, because if any of them did and Kazai managed to remember through her drunken craze, then they would face the full force of her wrath to the best of her ability once she sobered up.

Let's change all our sorrow and rage to power

None of these people really interested Shaun. Half of the eyes he met either had partnerships with him already, or were desperate to partner up with him. He had made it his duty to recognize the most successful faces of Tokyo, yet it didn't seem like any of them were in the vicinity. It was likely that the "big game" just wasn't here for Shaun to catch, but this building was big and it had a lot of rooms, so he chose to believe that his targets were around, just in hiding.

For now, he headed over to the bar, where he caught the sight of something very peculiar.

A young lady that Shaun recognized had swiped a drink from an unsuspecting victim. She drunk and drunk and drunk, all with a familial miserable look on her face. Shaun couldn't tell how many times he had that same epression, drowning away his depression in alcohol and hoping that the poisonous liquids would be enough to poison him dead.

He empathized so greatly with this girl, which was why he acted the way he did next.

He walked over to the girl and immediately moved his hands to her glass to snatch it away from her. In regards to speed, Shaun was lightning fast, and the girl seemed too drunk enough to understand what was going on. In theory, it would be too easy to snatch the drinking glass from her fingers. However, the material would be completely empty by then, so there was entirely no point to do it.

"Kazai Yamashita? What a surprise to see you. Do you remember me?" He looked from her drunk expression to the glass she recently drunk from, then back to her again. "Weren't girls supposed to have been taught about modesty?" He gave her a raised brow.

Don't you ever say I just walked away
After having finished her last drink, the teen was already searching for any other unattended drinks to disgracefully swipe up, however much to her dismay it seemed that everyone else had left the bar. Perhaps rumor had spread about the fallen princess enough so that no one else would come to bother her. Great, at least now she could burp in peace, and that was exactly what the flustered princess would pridefully do. And happily so. However, it was only then that she took note of the man who had just taken to standing behind her stool like a creeper.

"Ya callin' me a slut, whore? Cuz I'll fuck if ya, right here on the table if you wanna," The clearly intoxicated girl leaned forward, her hand lazily being thrown to the side as she turned to more closely face the man creeping over her shoulder. Along the way, her inebriated arm cleared the table of the glasses in front of her, swiping all the glasses onto the floor in what may have been a semiconscious manner. Her expression remained fixed to the man whom at the point she certainly could not recognize. He didn't look like anyone she had met before, that much was certain.

"Modest girls can go fuck 'emselves," she roared. 'World can go fuck itself. Everyone just fucking fuck 'emself. Lets fuck."

She turned away from Shaun only for a hiccup to creep out from her throat. Her arms crossed on the bar table and soon her head was resting right on top of it. Her posture made her seem like she could go to sleep at any given second, but she didn't. However, she did look miserable.

Let's change all our sorrow and rage to power

It didn't seem that Kazai was able to recognize the prince. Apparently, she was too drunk. However, the words she said certainly did bring a surprise to Shaun. She didn't seem like she cared for the type of behavior she displayed, or how negative it looked on her. When she said she'd fuck Shaun, almost everyone except Shaun released a gasp. This was something no wealthy person would appreciate hearing.

However, Kazai quickly divulged from her vulgar ways, and instead placed her head on the table. Shaun could feel the solemn atmosphere around her, and he had no choice but to release a heavy sigh.

"You should never say something you don't really mean," he said as he took his jacket off and lightly placed it over her delicate shoulders. "Your body is a temple and you should treasure it with your life."

He walked over to the seat next to her and sat down. For a while now, the bartender had been avoiding this area because of Kazai's presence. However, when Shaun raised his hand, signaling the man towards the worker, the bartender appeared out of nowhere like magic.

"Give me some water please," he said to the bartender.

While he waited for his water, Shaun turned his attention back to Kazai. He turned his body towards her, then rested his chin in his hand as he took her in. She looked depressed, far more than Shaun could ever imagine.

"You must've had it tough huh?" he asked her. "This acting out behavior... The drinking, the immediate turn to sex, the cursing, and the blatant disregard for personal appearance... I recognize all of this... What's on your mind Kazai? What happened?"

Kazai Yamashita

Don't you ever say I just walked away
Kazai's head remained buried in her arm as she lamented on every aspect of her life. She'd had a lot to drink, but perhaps her actions were a bit exaggerated, her giving herself into the alcohol because she could think a little more clearly now even after but a few moments. She heard all of Shaun's words and they did resonate to some extent, but that didn't mean they changed anything at all. How could someone like him understand what she was going through. And she did recognize him now.

"You should never say something you don't really mean."

She visibly perked up when she heard Shaun say those words. Her body curled upward to an erect position and she merely looked at him. Had she meant those words? She wasn't sure. Did it matter? Somehow his words illuminated the significance of that veracity. Her eyes remained tired, groggy, and dull, but her attention had honed in on the man now next to her. Shaun. He had changed a lot since she last saw him. She didn't know him well, however the two had a lot in common. Shaun was among the richest in the United States, and Kazai was the daughter of the richest man in Japan. They both had businesses that they were to inherit and they both had an insane level of responsibility placed upon their shoulders that could change the world for millions of people. Even if they didn't know each other well, in a way she and Shaun were like estranged siblings..

"You don't know?" she asked with an unexpected manner of poise for someone who had seemed hopelessly intoxicated only seconds before. "Of course you know. Everyone knows."

Kazai's eyes averted from Shaun as she stared blankly at the alcohol shelf across from her. Her father's death had been headline news. Unexpected, and the murder suspect was still on the loose. But who killed her father didn't matter. He was dead. That was what mattered, and she was never going to get to know him the way she had always looked forward to.
